Fun Alternatives to Candy for Your Trick or Treaters

Non Candy Halloween Treats that Kids will Love!

By Krystina Tessier, Publisher of Macaroni Kid Franklin - Grafton - Milford October 11, 2023

Halloween is a popular holiday for all things candy, but it’s nice to give those little ghouls something fun and sugar-free too. Parents will be thankful for a break in their kid’s candy flow and non-candy Halloween treats will provide entertainment for days after Halloween night!

1. Stretchy Toys

Elastic toys are sure to bring lots of fun, as kids test how far they can stretch the colorful figures. They can pull on them, make them dance, and more.

2. Crayons

A 4-pack set of crayons is perfect for drawing on the go.  Most packs contain your red, blue, yellow and green which is ideal for drawing blue skies, yellow suns, green grass, and red houses, among other things.

3. Mini Puzzles

Puzzles are a great way to help kids identify patterns, develop problem-solving skills, and work on independent play.

4. Bouncy Balls

Opt for creepy eyeballs if you want to stay on theme for October 31.

5. Silly Straws

Meal time will be double the fun with any silly straws. Kids will be anxious to add them to their drinks, which will be a great way to keep them hydrated.6. Stickers

What kid doesn't love decorating their notebooks with colorful adhesives? Stickers make for fun treats that won't weigh down trick-or-treaters' bags.

7. Bubbles

Pick up Halloween-themed, party-sized bubble bottles or grab packs of clear bubble tubes and decorate each with Halloween stickers.

8. Vampire Teeth

Even if they didn't dress up as a vampire or werewolf, it's hard to resist spooky, plastic teeth. Princesses can have fangs too, right?

9. Play-Doh

Whether you hand out a mix of colors or opt only for Halloween hues, kids will love playing with the dough inside.

10. Temporary Tattoos

Tattoos are safe for kids, easy to press on, and perfect for showing off at school the next day. Sounds like a win to us!

You can find a lot of these online but if you're in a pinch most can be found in the seasonal or party sections of your big box stores or the dollar store!
