My son and I were able to squeeze in another playground visit in between all the rain that has returned. We decided to go on a weeknight so we stayed local (to us) and visited a park in Uxbridge, MA. Wheelock Memorial is a small, fenced-in playground that is wedged between Mendon St (Rte 16) and Henry St.  We arrived around 4:45pm and was pleasantly surprised to see that there were 2 other families playing in the park. However, because there is no parking lot, I had to drive past the park and turn around to find some parking. By the time I circled back, a car had moved out of the parking area and I was able to park along the fence.

The playground is completely fenced with a total of 3 gates. However is located right on the street. I would caution any small child to not play near the fence in the event a car came too close or threw something out their window. There are a few play structures including a larger multiplay unit, swings, monkey bars, and a 2 seater spring rider. My son prefers the larger multi-play structures so he spent most of his time there. Next time we come I may bring a friend and a ball so they can play in the open area on the backside of the park.

The swing set here has a total of 4 swings but does include baby/toddler seats. Since I have my 1yr old niece from time to time, I always look for these as the swings are her favorite. The park also offers 2 picnic tables and 3 benches for you to sit and enjoy a snack or read or just watch your children play.

The floor of this park looks as though it should be all grass however there are multiple areas where the grass has worn extremely thin or is non-existent. Other than the appearance of the ground there wasn't any broken equipment, trash or graffiti. I did see 1 trash receptacle which seems to be enough since the park is quite small

PLAYGROUND FACTS & RATING:(out of 10)

Parking: 1: Parking is right on Henry St. They did widen the road at the park to fit roughly 4 cars. The entrance to the park is located at the beginning of the parking area.

Bathrooms: 0: This park does not have any bathrooms or located near any public bathrooms.

Safety: 6: While this park is completely fenced in, it unfortunately is located in a very traffic-heavy area and has a gate that opens directly to Route 16.

Cleanliness: 9: The playground was very clean and included 1 trash receptacle.

Equipment: 8: The equipment offered was great for older toddlers/children and included a good variety for such a small space.

Overall: 4.8: This little park is a good afternoon visit for any locals. In my opinion, I would go midday on a weekday to limit the traffic and ensure parking.
