After what felt like 40 days and 40 nights of rain, the warm weather and sun finally arrived so I took my youngest son (4yr) to the Our Lady of the Valley playground over the weekend. Only one other mom and two little girls were in the playground when we arrived however they left shortly after.

Set on school grounds, this reasonably sized playground is perfect for a late afternoon or a weekend visit (non-school hours). Although there are climbing structures available for all ages, kids younger than 3 years old may have difficulty navigating the larger pieces independently. My son loved the slides and the pebble bridge. He says he liked the seesaw but because it was just him and I it wasn't any fun (I'm not sure how to take that, kid   )

The base of the playground is medium-sized wooden mulch, which in this editor’s opinion is good but not great. I find that it gets stuck to clothing and can actually cause splinters.

PLAYGROUND FACTS & RATING:

Parking: 10: Since the playground is set on school grounds, parking is no issue! Large, lined parking lot available.

Bathrooms: 0: No bathrooms available on the grounds.

Safety: 8: Set in the back corner of the parking lot and completely fenced in. Although the fence did need some TLC and had an opening that looked like a gate was missing.  No apparent broken equipment.

Cleanliness: 9: The playground was very clean. No signs of trash or graffiti on the ground or equipment during the visit.

Equipment: 9: Offers a variety of play! Climbing structures with slides and swings. Pieces that teach balance and strength. Downside is that there are no baby swings or "toddler" structures.

Overall: 7.2: Perfect local playground to bring the kids to after dinner or early Sat morning. Would recommend ages 3+
