Enrichment Programs Expand Learning for Goddard School Students

December 30, 2019

For students at The Goddard School® of Bellingham, MA, every day is filled with fun opportunities to learn. From the F.L.EX.® (Fun Learning Experience) Learning Program to daily STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics) activities, children ages six weeks to six years have the opportunity to develop the skills they need for long-term success in school and in life. Amy Peterson and her husband opened the School in 2006. According to Amy, one major draw for choosing to own a Goddard School was the brand’s philosophy. Amy says that The Goddard School approach seemed like the perfect fit as a business as well as a School for their own children, which gave the Petersons the valuable experience of being Goddard parents while owning a School.

Promoting a Fun Learning Experience

Children at The Goddard School learn and grow through the F.L.EX.® Learning Program, which is based on academic research that shows that children experience the deepest, most genuine learning when they are having fun. This program builds on children’s curiosity by incorporating STEAM learning into play-based activities to make STEAM accessible and fun. When children build a castle with blocks, they are not just playing; they are building engineering, creativity and critical-thinking skills. When children play with blocks together, they are strengthening their communication and collaboration skills. By ensuring that children have fun while learning the skills they need to become school-ready, career-ready and life-ready, The Goddard School is an excellent childhood preparation for social and academic success.

Enrichment Programs Expand Learning Experiences

As part of F.L.EX.® learning, children at The Goddard School of Bellingham have the opportunity to enjoy a variety of enrichment programs that encourage young learners to make their own choices, solve problems and explore their passions and interests independently through fun, hands-on activities. Experiential learning helps children develop perseverance and social-emotional intelligence, making them school-ready, career-ready and life-ready. Through these enrichment activities, children have the opportunity to immerse themselves in Spanish, to twist and stretch during yoga and to develop key critical thinking skills in the Story Time Chess at School program. The School now offers Kindermusik in the infant and toddler classrooms, which allows children to learn and grow through music and movement. In addition, Mr. Adam, the music instructor, directs a special music program for pre-k students.

Additionally, The Goddard School teachers have exceeded expectations in building learning programs they know will captivate children’s interests. Our pre-k and junior-k teachers, Ms. Margot and Ms. Andrea, used their classroom experience to develop a robust social studies program to teach their students about the states, including capitals, flags, birds and flowers. In this program, children also learn, observe and talk about the American monuments.
